Quick Estimate lives inside Takeoff · Cost for the moment before there's anything to upload. Fill in a building profile once, and 14 trade formulas — Structural, MEP, and Finishing — turn it into a live, itemized cost rollup.

What Quick Estimate Does

Every original trade calculator this was built from asked for its own room counts and dimensions independently. Quick Estimate fixes that: one Building Profile, read by all 14 trade modules, so nothing gets entered twice and nothing drifts out of sync.

🏠
One Building Profile
Dimensions, room counts, openings, and fixture counts entered once — every trade module downstream reads from the same source.
🔧
14 Trade Modules
Foundation, framing, roofing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, cabinetry, flooring, insulation, painting, trim, windows & doors.
💲
Central Rate Matrix
One editable price list shared by every trade — update a material rate once and every downstream estimate re-prices automatically.
🏘️
Building-Type Cost Factor
Switching Single-Family / Townhome / Duplex / Loft / Studio / Penthouse / High-Rise rescales the whole estimate live, using the same cost factors as the full Takeoff engine.
📊
Live Rollup Dashboard
A per-trade bar chart and category breakdown that update instantly as the building profile or rates change — no manual re-totaling.
➡️
Hands Off to the Real Engine
"Continue to Full IFC Takeoff" carries the building type straight into the real cost engine's params, so nothing picked here gets re-entered.

One Profile, Fourteen Formulas, One Total

The whole module is a straight pipeline — no state gets entered at more than one point, and nothing about the math depends on which trade tab happens to be open.

Input
Building Profile — dimensions, room & fixture counts, openings, waste factor. Entered once, stored in its own quickEstimateStore.
Structural
Foundation, Wall Framing, Floor Framing, Roofing, Drywall — each a pure function of the profile plus the rate matrix.
MEP
Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC — circuit counts, fixture DFUs, and duct sizing all derived from the same room counts above.
Finishing
Cabinetry, Flooring, Insulation, Painting, Trim, Windows & Doors — including basement and garage line items where those toggles apply.
Rate Matrix
One shared price list per material, scaled by the selected building type's cost factor before any trade totals are computed.
Output
Live rollup dashboard — grand total, category breakdown, and a sortable bar chart across all 14 trades.

Residential Only, On Purpose

Quick Estimate's formulas were built from a set of residential trade calculators and haven't been adapted for commercial assemblies — curtain wall, structural steel, fire suppression systems, and the like need a different cost model entirely. It only appears in the Residential sector for that reason, not as an oversight.

Covers Single-family homes, townhomes, duplexes, and low-rise apartment subtypes (loft, studio, penthouse, high-rise).
Doesn't Cover Commercial building types — office, retail, warehouse, hospitality, data center, and similar sit under the full IFC Takeoff · Cost engine only.
Deliberately Not Bridged Numbers here don't auto-populate the Takeoff engine's Cost tab — that tab is reserved for real IFC-derived quantities, so a rough guess never gets mistaken for a measured takeoff.
